The first group of adds should die before the 2nd group of adds reach the healers/tanks.

With all the effort we put into it as tanks, it's still the DPS's responsibilty to DPS not just Anub, but the adds as well to ensure that we don't get to many. That's the reason we tank adds on Anub in the 1st place, so that we can get max effect from cleave rotations and such.

Perhaps but from what I've seen of HM on 10 man the adds keep coming out after he hits 30%. I don't see how we'll not be able to keep getting more unless we're resigned to dpsing them down before moving on to Anub.

That's correct for solo tanking. But if we use 2 add tanks, seeing as they would be paladins it would be 101.6 with Holy Shield. Just 2 adds cannot eat through Holy Shield. It's when you solo tank 4 adds that you need the full passive avoidance/block.

You can still aim for 101.6% but with 2 add tanks you can get away with counting in Holy Shield.

Ideally you want 101.6% passive avoidance(Including block) without counting holy shield. To that end, people gem for defense as it's the most effective way to gear for that. The set is very precise to make it happen.

I still think you'd want to focus on defense to focus on avoidance over the ~11 BV you'll get from a 20 str gem(2 Str= 1BV, 1.1 with BoKings, plus the bonus from Divine Strength), working on passive unhittable/passive block cap.

Then you need to max out your Block Value as much as possible. Because of Holy Shield paladins should be able to reach 4k plus unbuffed (no libram).

...supposedly.

Should be good, just pulled it off stickies recently.

Quote:
/run ChatFrame1:AddMessage(format("Unhittable at 102.4%% - you have %.2f%%", GetDodgeChance() + GetBlockChance() + GetParryChance() + 5 + 1/(0.0625 + 0.956/(GetCombatRating(CR_DEFENSE_SKILL)/4.91850*0.04))))

Not your normal set. You want 101.6% with Holy Shield and as much Block Value as possible. Maxing stam for that set is frowned on as it just adds to heals on Anub anyways, so if it's a different set, shave off as much stamina as possible.

For the record a fully unhittable tank will be sitting at roughly 28k UB hp to help NOT heal Anub.

We're one fight away and this fight actually requires a slight bit of work. Anub tank will most likely be one of our Druid brethren. For Anub adds though we'll need to do some prep work, but perhaps not as much as we first thought. Depending of course on how much dps we are going to try due to the high dps requirements.

There are 2 different tank methods atm. The 2 tank method and the 3 tank method.

The first method is using 3 tanks total, 1 on Anub, 2 on adds each taking one. With this method Paladins generally have the easiest time due to Holy Shield and only having to tank 2 adds at once. Using this strategy would only require that you reach 101.6% total avoidance/block WITH Holy Shield. As a paladin this is a very simple task, once you reach that number you then stack as much STR and Block Value as possible.

The second method is using 2 tanks total, 1 on Anub and 1 on all 4 adds. With this method Warriors generally have the easiest time due to Shield Block 5/5 granting 5% passive block, and Critical Block. Using this strategy would require you to reach 101.6% total avoidance/block passively or without Holy Shield active for us paladins.

My set is nearly done and we'll only need 1 tank to have that much passive avoidance if we go with that strategy. I still encourage you to put a passive set together in case something happens to me, but most likely you'll only need to first set that includes as much block value as possible after getting Unhittable with Holy Shield.

Going with that much Block gear you'd need to glyph for taunt and the other 3 adds will have to be MD'ed or Trick'd to you because picking up 4 mobs at once from different directions can prove....daunting.

And also there is the matter of the loss of hit and the possible chance of Holy Wrath missing when adds cast Sinister Strike all at the same time. That will be easily covered by having our very regular and dependable ret paladins in raid cover the aoe stun/interrupt.

That's all for now, I just wanna make sure we are preparing as well as we can.
